Concavity Filter detects the curvature of the terrain surface and generates a mask based on whether a point is concave (recessed, like a valley or hollow) or convex (exposed, like a ridge or hilltop). This lets you target specific landform features for spawning.

Settings

  • Blend Mode — how this filter combines with the previous mask in the stack. Multiply narrows the spawn area; Add expands it.
  • Mode — selects which type of surface to target:
    • Recessed — targets concave areas (valleys, hollows, ditches).
    • Exposed — targets convex areas (ridges, hilltops, edges).
  • Strength — controls the intensity of the masking effect. Higher values create a stronger, more defined mask.
  • Feature Size — specifies the scale of terrain features that influence the detection. Larger values detect broader, more gradual curvature; smaller values pick up fine surface details.
  • Remap Curve — remaps the raw concavity values before the final mask is produced. Adjust this curve to control how the detected curvature translates into mask intensity.
